From the famous ESTATE OF CLAIRE VOGELMAN Doyle New York is honored to offer fine jewelry from the Estate of Claire Vogelman (1911-2005). Born in Connecticut, Ms. Vogelman was raised in Westchester County and studied fashion design in New York. She worked for various clothing designers before launching her own fashion business under the name Claire Newman and specializing in bridal and evening gowns. Her designs became available in major department stores nationwide and were featured in Hollywood films of the 1940s. In addition to fashion, she was an accomplished skier and horsewoman, as well as a frequent world traveler. Ms. Vogelman left the fashion world after her marriage to Phillip Vogelman, president of the textile company, Onondaga Silk, and devoted her immense energy to philanthropy. She served as president of the women's division of the UJA-Federation and later co-founded Shenkar College of Engineering and Design in Israel. She was active in the Brookdale Center on Aging, served on the Advisory Council of Rockefeller University and was president of the Daughters of Jacob Geriatric Center for ten years.
